In the next few decades, ownership of many beautiful properties in Bolton will change hands. The decisions that are made about the future of those parcels will affect what Bolton looks like and the type of community it will become. The Bolton Land Trust would like to help landowners make decisions about their land that address their needs and consider the overall beauty and health of the whole town.

Open space is a key ingredient to the quality of life in Bolton and its neighboring towns. The Bolton Land Trust seeks to maintain and improve the quality of life here by permanently preserving land in Bolton and in neighboring towns where appropriate. With its rural character, easy access to a major urban area, strong school system and beautiful countryside, Bolton faces development pressures that the land trust hopes to balance by preserving agricultural land, untouched forests, river corridor properties and historic areas.

The Bolton Land Trust is an all-volunteer group funded by membership dues and donations. We have a 12-member board of directors supported by a current membership of 285. The land trust was organized as a Connecticut non-stock corporation on April 11, 2001 and received its 501(c)(3) non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service in December, 2001. All contributions to the Bolton Land Trust are tax-deductible.
